Officials – Advancement – Scorers
To be considered for advancement from Provisional to Regional Scorer, from Regional to National Scorer, the following are expected by the North Texas Region (NTR):

- General Expectations
The scorer candidate must:- Submit an email to the VP of Junior Training by December 1st for Regional to National candidates stating:
- Your desire to advance to the next rating level;
- The reasons why you want to advance; and
- Your officiating experience (levels and years of USAV, Collegiate, as well as other qualifications: e.g.., championship matches worked, honors awarded to you, etc.)
- Submit to being rated the amount of times as required at the appropriate match level for your desired rating. This is the minimum number of ratings you will be required to perform. More ratings may be necessary to complete the advancement process.
- Be willing to assign your match fees to an Advancement Committee Evaluator for the matches you are evaluated.
- Submit an email to the VP of Junior Training by December 1st for Regional to National candidates stating:

- To Achieve Provisional Scorer the scorer candidate must:

- Meet all requirements and deadlines specified in Section V of the NTR Handbook and USAV Indoor Officials Certifications with the following exceptions and/or additions:
- Take the USAV Scorer exam, achieve a 70% or higher. If a score of at least 70% is not obtained, retake the USAV Scorer exam and achieve a score of 70% or higher as many times as needed to obtain a 70%.
- The commission of a Critical Error precludes the candidate from further participation in the rating process

- To Retain Provisional Scorer In Good Standing the scorer must:

- Meet all requirements and deadlines specified in Section V of the NTR Handbook and USAV Indoor Officials Certifications with the following exceptions and/or additions.
- Take the USAV Scorer exam, achieve a 70% or higher. If a score of at least 70% is not obtained, retake the USAV Scorer exam and achieve a score of 70% or higher as many times as needed to obtain a 70%.

- To Achieve Regional Scorer the scorer candidate must:

- Meet all requirements and deadlines specified in Section V of the NTR Handbook and USAV Indoor Officials Certifications with the following exceptions and/or additions.
- Take the USAV Scorer exam, achieve a 85% or higher. If a score of at least 85% is not obtained, retake the USAV Scorer exam and achieve a score of 85% or higher as many times as needed to obtain a 85%.
- The commission of a Critical Error precludes the candidate from further participation in the rating process.
NOTE: After completion of the necessary rating, Provisional Scorers may be moved to Regional Scorer at anytime within the season by recommendation of the VP of Junior Training, any combination of two (2) National Scorers with the approval of the VP of Junior Training.

- Meet all requirements and deadlines specified in Section V of the NTR Handbook and USAV Indoor Officials Certifications with the following exceptions and/or additions.
- Take the USAV Scorer exam, achieve a 85% or higher. If a score of at least 85% is not obtained, retake the USAV Scorer exam and achieve a score of 85% or higher as many times as needed to obtain a 85%.

- To Achieve National Scorer the scorer candidate must:

- Meet all requirements and deadlines specified in Section V of the NTR Handbook and USAV Indoor Officials Certifications with the following exceptions and/or additions.
- Submit an email to the VP of Junior Training by December 1rst of the current officiating year that the official desires to be a National Candidate.
- Receive three (3) passing ratings as scorer at event(s) designated by the VP of Junior Training.
- Be willing to travel to the rating session at the designated USAV event. Upon successful completion of the rating session travel to the USAV Open Championships to complete the process.
- Assist the NTR Officials Division after receiving your National rating.
- The commission of a Critical Error precludes the candidate from further participation in the rating process.
